In 2022, I read 77 books by authors from overseas across a variety of genres. A lot of these were review books sent to me by publishers, and many were kid’s books, which is an area I tend to focus on, as it seems many publications focus on adult books, which is fair enough. But kids’ books need love too! I favoured fantasy, historical fiction, and mystery, and mostly novels though I did read a few graphic novels. Whilst this isn’t my preferred format, I think they have their place alongside other books so that readers of children’s books have a choice – it’s no longer one or the other, which is a good thing. Being able to choose the books you like in the format you like will help foster a love of reading. I also re-read a few favourites this year and got up to date with the Pages and Co series before the final book comes out – hopefully this year. This year has been interesting for this category, and it will be interesting to see what crosses my path this year, even though I am hoping to focus on Australian authors again in 2023.
