In July, I found another book bingo, and downloaded the card. It was shared by Rebecca Fung from Giulia Ralton, a library and literacy teacher. She explains the purpose behind a book bingo challenge here. Fingers crossed all these links work, and apologies if they don’t.  I’m always interested to see what reading challenges do, and I find the ones that have prompts that are a bit open work the best.

Out of interest, I filled it in with books I had already read. When I filled the first ten or eleven prompts in, I used books I had already read, and that had filled in similar categories in other challenges. When it came to the others, there were two prompts I had books lined up for – made into a movie and the year I was born, as I had similar prompts in other challenges. I used those to save time on finding a different book each time these prompts came up in different challenges.

Book that became a movie: Miss Austen by Gill Hornby

Historical Fiction: Moonboy by Anna Ciddor

Book with a Mythical Creature: Seven Wherewithal Way: Into the Faerie Realm by Samantha-Ellen Bound

Set in another country: Kip of the Karoo by Emma Gourlay

Book with a Villain you like: Everglade: Rise of the Witch by Kitty Black

Based on a game or sport: Secret Keeper by Di Walker

Mystery or adventure story: The Girl and the Ghost by Jacqueline Harvey

Author you’ve never read: Wait Here by Lucy Nelson

Book with an animal main character: Quoll by Christopher Cheng and Cindy Lane

Story with a strong female lead: Lady’s Knight by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

Spooky or horror story: The Lost Notes of the Soul Spinners by Reece Carter

Written by an Indigenous author: Moonlight and Dust by Jasmin McGaughey

Has a mystery to solve: Danger Road by A.L. Tait

Is part of a series: Ella at Eden: The Missing Piece by Laura Sieveking

Fantasy story: Silverborn: The Mystery of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend

Book published the year you were born (1986): Space Demons by Gillian Rubinstein

This was a fun challenge, and one that I stumbled across whilst looking for something else. I’ve managed to complete or nearly complete several challenges this year amidst a whole lot of other stuff as well.
