The limits on Calling have been lifted, and Callers are now allowed to conjure up anything they want. But many on Elipsom still don’t realise that everything they Call is being stolen from Evantra, a secret continent on the opposite side of the world.

Quin, Allie, and Davinia have been fighting to show people the truth. But Adriana Octavius, the Chief Councillor of Elipsom, will do anything she can to suppress the rising rebellion. Even if it means killing the Vine, the life-giving force for all of Evantra and Elipsom.

Can the three friends find their way back to each other, reveal the truth, and heal the Vine . . . before it’s too late?

Moving and action-packed, the conclusion to the Callers saga shows the power of standing up for the truth and that anyone can change the world.

The Journey Home is the third, and final book in The Callers trilogy by Kiah Thomas. Quin, Davinia, and Allie are back, This time, the story is told through each of their alternating perspectives as they navigate a changing world on Elipsom as it becomes clear that what people on Elipsom have been Calling is being stolen from Evantra, another continent in the world they live in.

They’re on a quest to tell the truth, and make people see what is really going on. But there are forces trying to stop them and rhinodrite, Dawn, from making sure Elipsom stops taking everything from Evantra, and ruining their ecosystem. It’s about trying to stand up to power and show that everyone is equal. About making sure that those in power, who claim to be doing the right thing, are just repeating old patterns. The third book is wrapping everything up, and it did feel like Allie, Quin and Davinia were telling separate stories at times that would eventually come together and where things would start to make sense as the threads of the trilogy are resolved.

Things have been building slowly across this series to this conclusion, where people the characters never thought they’d meet come into play and reveal things that bring the two continents together and show that everyone should be able to access things fairly. All of this is about community, equity and finding out that what people thought was fair is no longer fair. Maybe it never has been, but Quin, Allie and Davinia are determined to make sure they follow the right path and discover the truth.

In doing so, they’ll reveal what is really going on to everyone else as well. I think this is important because it reflects the reality of politics today and the fact that if someone can take advantage of their power, they will. They will do whatever they can to convince people of something that isn’t true.  But things must come to a head, and this is where this book comes into its own as well as concluding the series with a sense of hope and renewal, acknowledging the complexities of it all and giving us a sense of hope that we can all have a hand in changing things.

A satisfying conclusion to the series.
