Our Shellharbour celebrates Shellharbour and the south coast of New South Wales, so come along and join siblings Lani and Oli as they explore the magical world of bays and beaches, mountains and seas, swimming and cycling, and everything the great outdoors has to offer for a grand adventure. Allow children to discover the magic of the world around them, seeing what their home of Shellharbour has to offer.

As Australia is a country that is vast and has many different spaces, towns, and landscapes to explore, this book celebrates the natural diversity of the country and the joy and magic that can be found in all areas, but in this instance, focuses on Shellharbour. This story is seen through the eyes of two children as Lani shows Oli around the Shellharbour region, and what she loves about it.

The story is a beautiful journey of discovery and a celebration of the natural world that comes to life as Lani and Oli explore and learn about the world around them. It shows that there is something delightful and wondrous in everything around us, and in the little things that people may not always think about, or not see in their busy lives. It can act as a reminder to take time to look for the things we don’t always see, or to highlight the different natural areas that we have in Australia, and what they mean to people, and the beauty within these areas.

Books like this are gentle stories that evoke a sense of adventure and wonder, that allow us to travel when we can’t go anywhere ourselves, but that also show us there are so many places to explore and love, and this book is just one example of the wonders that the natural world can hold for us to discover. Another great book from Karen.
