CBCA Book of the Year Shortlist

CBCA Logo of a child reading with text saying The Children's Book Council of the Year Awards next to it.

The CBCA shortlist for 2026 is here! There are some great books on this list, and some where I think it will be hard to decide. It’s always tough because there are so many good books entered into awards. When there are so many of high quality, with good storytelling or good information, it can be hard to decide what should go through. There are quite a few that I hoped would make it to the shortlist that didn’t, but what is here looks good. Looking forward to seeing who wins later this year.
