Titch, Huckleberry and Briar are back for the third part of their quest. This time, they’re off to Lexhelm to find out more about the stones and Bravepaw. So far, they’ve got the Heartstone and the Clawstone, and with three stones to go to help them save Alluria, things are starting to get hectic. Little do they know that the Midnight Markets are lurking, and that someone is hiding there, waiting to make things hard for them.

Titch and her friends are on their way to danger, betrayal, and a lonely mouse called Clover, There’s slippery enemies, twisted prophecies and questioning who they should trust in this novel that continues the fabulous Bravepaw series. It’s a perilous journey that is taking our heroes on a quest that they never thought they would be on, taking on turtles and threats, saving other animals from brainwashing spells and trying to protect the stones so they can save the crack in their world and get home to the Plateau.

Everything has been building to this midway point, where the friends are questioning themselves and who they can trust. It means that this looks to be the turning point of the series, as it feels like it is the midway point. And often at the midway point in a series, things begin to change for the characters to move the plot in the direction it needs to go in.

Beware of the dangers and the bizarre prophecies from a chook…half of which don’t seem to make sense to the characters, and to be fair, why would they? Titch needs to dig deep to find her own bravery and trust herself in this book. It’s all about teamwork, listening to your heart and doing what you need to do or can in the face of a betrayal that they may not see coming.

It’s a great addition, taking the friends on a new part of their quest, into new dangers and sits nicely with the rest of the series. It’s great for all ages, whether you’re an emerging reader, someone trying to find books the kids in your life will enjoy, or have loved books like the Narnia series. It’s great to read along or with a group as well!

I loved this addition to the Bravepaw series and am looking forward to seeing what happens next and how it all comes together.
