During September, I read 15 books for my reviewing on my blog, Sisters in Crime, and ArtsHub. All these books were Australian, and all but one were by Australian women. Some were longer than others, and they all came from a wide range of genres. Some books were a bit longer, and as a result, I had to dedicate a bit more time to them, so didn’t get everything I wanted to read finished this month. I am hoping to get on top of as many of these in October.
- Madame Brussels: The Life and Times of Melbourne’s Most Notorious Woman by Barbara Minchinton
- Maisy and Daisy Move House by Michelle De Robillard and Amanda Letcher
- The Burrow by Melanie Cheng
- High Wire by Candice Fox
- Landovel: The Poison Taster by Emily Rodda
- Blood and Stone: A Radazan Mystery by Tamara M Bailey
- Landovel: The Secret Keeper by Emily Rodda
- Skysong by C.A. Wright
- My Family and Other Suspects by Kate Emery
- Flora: Australia’s Most Curious Plants by Tania McCartney
- When We Flew Away: A Novel of Anne Frank Before the Diary by Alice Hoffman
- Landovel: The Truth Teller by Emily Rodda
- Sally’s Lament by Mari Mancusi
- A Beginner’s Guide to Choosing the Perfect Pet by Ali Rutstein
- Into the Ice: Reflections on Antarctica to Alison Lester and Coral Tullock
During October, I also completed the Book Fair Australia Reading Challenge – I had to fill in the 2023 exhibitor, and was lucky enough that one of this month’s books was by an author I could use. I had a book I planned to use here if this hadn’t happened, but I enjoyed being able to use High Wire by Candice Fox to fill in this prompt.

Book Fair Australia Reading Challenge 2024
An Australian Author: Outlaw Girls by Emily Gale and Nova Weetman
An Indie author: Tight Lines by Louise Lambeth
An Australian AND Indie Author: Unpacking for Greece by Sally Jane Smith
A book from one of the 2023 exhibitors: High Wire by Candice Fox
A book from one of the 2024 exhibitors: The Puzzle Ring by Kate Forsyth
A book set somewhere you’ve always wanted to visit: The Travelling Bookshop: Mim and the Vicious Vendetta by Katrina Nannestad
Onto October and getting on top of many things in the first couple of weeks!
