The final set of prompts for this year’s Dymock’s Reading Challenge for Spring are completed now too – a couple of them took me a while but I got there. One of the things I have liked about this challenge is how open to interpretation some prompts were, because a prompt will always have a different meaning for each individual reader. This is what attracts me to challenges with prompts that have wiggle room – they’re not so prescriptive that one ends up spending their whole reading year trying to fit the books into the prompts. It means you can read what you choose when they’re open and it’s a happy coincidence when they align with the challenges. Even ones like Dymocks Top 101 is great – you have loads of choice – 101 choices in fact. Or more if you peruse earlier lists. I’ve completed this challenge now, and am keen to see what Dymocks comes up with next year.
