The Guinea Wigs are back! Jet, Minnie, Meatball, Bud and Tofu are just regular guinea pigs. Well, that is until they put their wigs on. Then they get superpowers that can save the day! They’re running around one day when they heard a strange sound from the sewer, so Minnie heads off, ad follows her nose to find out what is going on.
The other four decide to check out the frozen yoghurt shop, keen to find Minnie once they realise she hasn’t come back from her little reccy. So, the guinea pigs are on a mission! And their wigs are along for the ride, to help them find out who these superhero rats are, and where they got the idea. And why, of all things, do these rats think they need to wear underwear to be superheroes?
And it seems to have something to do with the frozen yoghurt…which doesn’t make sense at first. But then again, these are guinea pigs with magic wigs, so anything can happen. The strange goings-on mean G-Force are back, and ready to ensure these copy rats don’t get away with their plans.
Copy Rats is the second book in the Guinea Wigs series, and gives a little recap at the start of the book for new readers or those who haven’t read the first book in a while. This second story is filled with just as much humour as the first one, just as much silliness and a really cool story that is engaging for readers of all ages.
Not only is the story fun, but it will ensure all levels of reading can get in on the action. Newly independent readers have something they will enjoy and be able to read. Those still learning to read can try something a little bit meatier if they want to try it, and this is also a great read aloud book. Or, for those who are confident but feel like they need a break from other books this could be something to look into.
The first two books are wacky for sure. We need that wackiness in our lives these days, and these books deliver it in spades. This is such a fun series, and Copy Rats is a great addition to the series and to the world of funny guinea pig stories that are coming out at the moment.
