Welcome to my July post for Book Bingo with Theresa Smith and Amanda Barrett. This month, I am checking off a book set in a place that I dream of visiting. For this one, I chose The Good Turn by Dervla McTiernan (released in February this year) which is set in Ireland.
I have already been to Ireland, but it is a place I would like to go back to, as my aunt was from there and at least one member of my dad’s maternal line came from Ireland as well. There are also many places in Ireland I did not get a chance to visit during my last trip there, and I’d like to see more of Dublin – having only spent a day there, I feel like I missed a lot and would like to see more of that city. I’d need to do some research into other areas of Ireland to visit as well, but a literary tour of Dublin would be the first thing I would do, and even though The Good Turn isn’t set in Dublin, it has made me want to visit.
The Good Turn would also have fit into themes of crime and justice, just like many of the books I have done for this challenge would have fit into many squares and other challenge categories for my reading challenges this year. By completing this row, I have managed to get a bingo on the second across row.
