January 2024 Reading Round Up

A beige square with 26 colourful book covers in a range of genres and audience groups. It has black text in the middle that says January 2024 Reading Round Up.

Well, one month of the year down, and I spent a lot of time reading – for reviewing, to catch up on my backlog of review books, as well as working on the Stella Prize Summer Challenge, and a few other things. Whilst the Stella Prize Summer Challenge is officially over – it only ran from mid-December to mid-January; I am hoping to complete the prompts by the end of the year – hopefully by the end of summer. I only have four prompts left there.

Overall, in January, I read 26 books and reviewed half, with some reviews to come. So far this year, I have focused on reviewing the books I am asked to review, but that may change throughout the year. This month, I had lots going on and had to shift my priorities a little bit to get on top of everything. Only one book was by an author who wasn’t Australian – which fits with my main focus of Australian authors and primarily women or those who don’t get as much attention as other authors do – to give those stories some sort of attention.
