Journey back to the world of Medora to follow Alexandra Jennings and her friends – and enemies – for one last adventure.
Spanning four years after the final book in Lynette Noni’s #1 bestselling series The Medoran Chronicles, this is an epilogue like no other, full of laughter, tears, and above all, the unending power of friendship.
EMBRACE THE WONDER
~*~
Alexandra and her friends – Dix, Jordan, and Bear – have made it through a war and gruelling classes at Akarnae over the years. Now, they’re back in a story spanning four years, starting not long after the war, all the way to a happily ever after that Alex, Dix, Bear, and Jordan have been seeking ever since Aven unleashed upon Medora. Welcome back to Medora and come and catch up with your friends in Medora as they reunite with loved ones, laugh, cry, and find ways to cope with what has come before.
Each story in this epilogue takes places on a Kaldoras celebration over four years, going between several characters as they adjust to the world they know, and start to rebuild it. Everyone carries physical and emotional scars from the initial series – scars that are referenced in this yet to fully understand, you do need to read the Medoran Chronicles, and read them in order, because this is an intricate series that has threads that go throughout every book, including We Three Heroes, the story of Dix, Bear, and Jordan. Kaldoras – the Medoran equivalent of Christmas – is an important aspect of the rest of the series and is a time for family and friends to come together. It is fitting that this epilogue is set during this time, and sees our heroes grow, graduate, and move into new phases of their lives – a long-lasting friendship that has blossomed throughout the series, and has been an important factor throughout. I have loved that friendship has been the key thing in this novel with a touch of romance on the side to reflect what the world is like, whether the real world or a fantasy world.
Kaldoras reunites characters with some we haven’t seen for a long time and plays with our emotions as the story revisits tragedies from the past and explains things, and allows characters to open up, whilst giving them the finale they need – setting the story right and making sure Alex and her friends are happy and settled. It felt like the end – a true ending that showed what had come and what the future could be – a future that might have threats, but Alex and her friends are prepared for what is to come. I loved that each short story in this epilogue featured a different character over the span of four years and what they went through. Seeing who they have become since Akarnae has been a joy – this is the series that made me a regular reviewer, so I have been with Alex since the start of it all, well, at least from when the book was released. I now want to go back and read each book in order back-to-back and see if I can work out where all the little links are. They are there, and I love seeing them pop up. The epilogue hints at the dangers Alex and her friends will possibly face in the future, but for now, we can rest easy and see that things are happy for them – which I love. Having a complete ending is satisfying. I loved this book just as much as the previous five, and was thrilled when I heard it was coming out – I wanted to know what happened next, and I wasn’t disappointed with it.
To write this review, I went back over my reviews for the other books, and not only has my love for this series grown, but so has my reviewing style. And I also have an interview with Lynette on my blog. I loved going back through these archives, and even though this is a young adult series, it is the kind of series I would have read in high school, and that’s what attracted me to it. I am so keen for fans to read this book, because it gives us a sense of closure for the series. I have also converted a few people to this series, and like me, they have been unable to put them down, eager to read on to see what happens after the cliff hanger of one book. Back when they were first coming out, the anticipation was worth it and I think now that they’re all out, the anticipation will still be there to get the next one in the series and find out what happens.
