Generations of insects, butterflies, bird, lizards, snakes and an abundance of native wildlife will bear witness to the magnificent Bull Kauri pine…
~*~
Come on a journey to the Daintree Rainforest, and step 200 years into the past as a new seed is planted. A Bull Kauri pinecone explodes and seeds scatter through the forest. The seed is planted – and over the course of 200 years, the tree grows as generations of insects, butterflies, birds, lizards, snakes and so much native wildlife watches its growth and witnesses the changes to the Bull Kauri pine as it grows to eventually tower over the Daintree.
Seed to Sky is the latest in the Nature Storybook series from Walker Books. This time, Pamela Freeman is celebrating the beauty of the Daintree, through a story and accompanying facts throughout, showcasing how old the Daintree is, what lives there, and how it has evolved and thrived over the years. It gives life to the Daintree and makes it accessible, allowing readers to explore it in the book, understand what it is, and learn about it – and would be a perfect book to complement a trip to the Daintree for readers of all ages.
Picture books are for all ages – and ones like this can be used for many ages, in a range of ways from entertainment purposes to educational purposes in a range of classes, as it is the kind of book that can complement a range of topics and areas of learning in school or at home. It makes the Daintree come to life whilst teaching readers about it, and I think this can make the facts more memorable and more accessible. It is definitely a great place to start learning about the Daintree.
This is another fantastic book from Pamela Freeman, exploring nature for younger and older readers, and showing the beauty and importance of nature in our lives, and how our natural world and environments, particularly in Australia, have been shaped over many, many years. This engaging book combines Pamela’s wonderful words with Liz Anelli’s impressive and evocative illustrations, bringing a part of Australia to life for everyone. It also has an index and glossary at the back to help with further understanding for older readers. Another fantastic book from Pamela Freeman and Liz Anelli.
