Every now and then, I will read an anthology, which usually has an editor I can put down in my reading log, and sometimes, they might be edited by an organisation like the Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds anthology was. I didn’t read that many anthologies this year, but the ones I did were very enjoyable, and I quite like them – they’re something that you can dip in and out of because they have a series of unrelated short stories, or like in the case of Murder You Wrote, can be a collaborative effort of several authors to write one story, with an interactive slant to it – that one was very fun and hard to place into my lists, but because it had a different author for each chapter, I felt that it worked best here.
When it comes to books like this, I tend to read them based on what genre they’re in – and sometimes, I might pick up an anthology in a different genre as I can sample that genre in small bites to see if I like it, which is one of the things I love about anthologies, and I also like that there are many ways to pull one together, so there will often be an anthology out there for everyone.
