Amy at Lost in a Good Book is hosting the #AussieYAChallenge again in 2026 to read more Australian Young Adult books throughout the year. You can find the challenge page at Storygraph again here and here, with prompts to encourage you to read diversely. This year’s prompts are:
I always enjoy this challenge, because I love Australian young adult and do get a lot for it as a reviewer, so I should be able to not only complete the base level I choose, but add to it during the year. I’m looking forward to giving this another go this year, and hoping to read some good Aussie YA again in 2026.
The prompts are:
Award-winning #LoveOzYA:
Australiana Reimagined #LoveOzYA
LGBTQIA #LoveOzYA:
Crime/Mystery #LoveOzYA:
Debut #LoveOzYA:
To join the challenge, comment on the above linked page for Lost in a Good Book, or you can link your own post to the page, as well as linking back to the page in a blog post or social media. Using the hashtag will get you involved and help you find fantastic titles.
Now what? Choose your level from the following:
- Binks: read three books
- Marchetta: read six books
- Marsden: read nine books
- Nix: read twelve books
- Create your own challenge, and nominate your own goal
I always go for the Nix level but then also have my own challenge of about 40, and go from there. Amy has some good tips to succeed as well:
- Follow the #AussieYAChallenge hashtag to see what other people are reading and recommending
- Follow #LoveOzYA across all social media for more ideas
- Browse Amy’s website for ideas
- Download the icon and header to help spread the word.
Onto the challenge! Good luck if you’re taking part!
