~*~

Bin Chicken is back – and this time, it is Easter! Eggs abound, and Bin Chicken is seeing the shiny, glittery eggs! She collects them all as she follows the bunny – the poor eggs are lost! Until the children come to hunt for the eggs, and Bin Chicken needs to scram – but will a friend help her see what the eggs are really about?

The latest in the Bin Chicken series is set around Easter, and is just as fun as the others – we get to see an Australian Easter complete with a cheeky ibis who wants to join in the fun. It gives a completely different view of Easter from the perspective of a bird that nobody wants around, and is littered with humour and what we know about Easter, but with an Australian twist.

There’s always something fun about the bin chicken series and books – they’re accessible, and have fun rhyming text that can help children build vocabulary and reading confidence, and they are the kind of picture books that can be read and enjoyed by people of all ages. Everyone I speak to who likes these books is so passionate about them – because as much as we call the ibis a bin chicken, they are still an animal people love to see.

I like these books set around Christmas and Easter that give an Australian flavour to the celebrations – as most stories are set during winter or spring and the traditional European celebrations that are commonly seen in popular culture. I think being able to see how we celebrate Easter, even if it involves a bin chicken is something that Aussie kids are going to enjoy and relate to much more.

Bin Chicken’s Eggcellent Easter is another fun, colourful book with shiny words and eggs on the cover, making it eye-catching and joyful. Bin Chicken seems to be going forever – there are so many ways Bin Chicken’s stories can come about and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
