On Monday the fourth of March, the Stella Prize Longlist for 2024 was announced. The judging panel – Beejay Cox, Eleanor Jackson, Chery; Leavy, Bram Presser and Yves Rees whittled a longlist of twelve out of 227 entries for the year. The longlist includes novels, short fiction, memoir, essay and poetry, and the list is below, in alphabetical order by surname:

- The Anniversary by Stephanie Bishop (Hachette Australia)
- Body Friend by Katherine Brabon (Ultimo Press)
- She is the Earth by Ali Cobby Eckermann (Magabala Books)
- Edenglassie by Melissa Lucashenko (University of Queensland Press)
- Graft: Motherhood, Family and a Year on the Land by Maggie MacKellar (Penguin Random House)
- The Hummingbird Effect by Kate Mildenhall (Scribner Australia)
- Feast by Emily O’Grady (Allen & Unwin)
- Hospital by Sanya Rushdi, translated by Arunava Sinha (Giramondo Publishing)
- Abandon Every Hope: Essays for the Dead by Hayley Singer (Upswell Publishing)
- West Girls by Laura Elizabeth Woollett (Scribe Publications)
- Praiseworthy by Alexis Wright (Giramondo Publishing)
The shortlist will be announced on the fourth of April, and the winner will be announced on the second of May.
